A thank you named

recognizes the sacrifice of the gift.

Thankfulness is an act of grace received;

A simple candlelight illuminates the gift

in the midst of pain, or deluge of blessing,

but an extravagant sun spotlights the giver.

The face of one who births the gift

is worthy of our gaze,

worthy of gratitude.

We lift our countenance to our benefactor,

amazed that generosity has flowed freely

to the undeserving.
